1. Who We Are

UK Vans 4 Less ('we', 'us', or 'our') gather and process your personal data in accordance with this privacy notice and in compliance with relevant data protection law. We operate as a credit broker (not a lender). Our company details:

  • Company No: 13854953
  • Registered Office: 71–75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ
  • FCA Reference: 838153 (authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority)
  • ICO Registration: ZB569584
  • Email: hello@ukvans4less.co.uk

Where UK Vans 4 Less introduces you to a lender and you take out a loan, we will typically receive commission from that lender.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect and process the following personal data:

  • Name, date of birth, and home address
  • Email address and phone numbers
  • Employment and income details
  • Driving licence and identity documents
  • Bank details
  • Photographs (including selfies for identity verification — we may use facial recognition technology to authenticate your image against your ID documents)
  • Security questions and answers
  • Device and usage data collected via cookies and analytics

Data is collected through applications, online platforms, verbal and written communication, third-party sources, Credit Reference Agencies, fraud prevention agencies, and device data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Providing and administering vehicle sales and finance services
  • Corresponding with you about your enquiry or order
  • Identity verification and fraud prevention checks
  • Credit checks via Credit Reference Agencies
  • Facilitating communication with lenders and suppliers
  • Complying with legal obligations (including anti-money laundering requirements)
  • Direct marketing, where you have given consent
  • Improving our website and services

The legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests (fraud prevention, marketing), and explicit consent for special category data.

4. Sharing and Disclosing Your Data

As a credit broker we must disclose personal information to lenders and other third parties in order to provide products and services. We may share your data with:

  • Lenders on our panel
  • Identity verification providers
  • Fraud prevention agencies
  • Credit Reference Agencies (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion)
  • Payment service providers
  • Law enforcement or regulatory authorities when required by law

5. Credit Reference Agencies

An initial soft credit search may be carried out to determine the most suitable lender — this will not impact your credit score. Should a full application proceed, lenders on our panel will perform their own credit searches, which will be visible on your credit file.

6. Automated Credit Scoring

Lenders on our panel may use automated credit scoring as part of their assessment. Your application may also be subject to manual assessment by a lender's underwriting team. If you are declined solely on the basis of an automated decision, you can request a manual reassessment by contacting us.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

We only retain personal data for as long as necessary. Under anti-money laundering laws, we are required to keep your personal data for a minimum of 5 years after the business relationship ends. Direct marketing data is retained until you withdraw consent.

8. Transfers Outside the UK

Where we authorise the processing or transfer of your personal data outside of the UK, we will ensure that acceptable safeguards are in place to comply with our legal obligations, including the use of standard contractual clauses where appropriate.

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Right of rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to be forgotten — request erasure of your data (excluding financial transaction records required by law)
  • Right to restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
  • Right of portability — receive your data in an electronic format
  • Right to object — oppose certain types of processing, including direct marketing
  • Right to object to automated decisions — request human review of automated decisions that affect you

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@ukvans4less.co.uk.

10. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. A cookie is a small data file placed on your device when you visit a site. Cookies help us remember your preferences and improve your experience. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect certain website functionality.
